Lampaert: “I showed I can fight for the win”

Yves Lampaert (Deceuninck-Quick Step), 3rd of Paris-Roubaix 2019: “I think I also could have won. I gave a lot during the race. For sure I’m happy with the third place. It gives me a lot of confidence for the future and I’m really happy. Of course, I’m even happier that we are first and third with team. We proved we’re the best for classics. For classics like Flanders or Roubaix, you always feel some tension but I had a lot of confidence that I would be good. I’ve been riding at a high level for a long time and today I showed I can compete for the win in Paris-Roubaix. Philippe is a big example for me. He has a phenomenal palmares and the way he rides adds to it. He’s smart, he’s really strong and a really good guy. I think we have a good connection together.”
