More sport. More excitement. More safety.
The Hauts-de-France Region gives its cobblestones a makeover.
Miles upon miles of roads and—of course—cobblestones crossing the region, thousands of spectators, an epic finale in the historic Roubaix Velodrome… The Queen of Classics is an integral part of the heritage of Hauts-de-France.
Again serving as a major partner of Paris – Roubaix this year, the Hauts-de-France Region has thrown its weight behind the renovation of the legendary Trouée d'Arenberg. 500 metres of sandstone cobblestones laid down in the heart of the forest in the 18th century have been weeded, sanded down and regrouted to make the race safer while keeping the stakes as high as ever!

The Lille European Metropolis contributes to the organisation, growth and projection of a metropolitan area that is home to 90 municipalities and 1.2 million people. The Metropolis has a multifaceted sport policy.
In first place, it promotes sport for all by helping to build or renovate facilities in even the tiniest of villages.
It also supports top-level sport both through its backing of 20 clubs and as a facilitator of partnerships between athletes and businesses, especially via the Pacte de Performance scheme.
Finally, it hosts high-profile events that combine sporting achievements with popular celebrations: the Davis Cup, Euro 2020 football matches in Pierre-Mauroy Stadium… and, of course, the finish of the Queen of Classics.
The Metropolis is also gearing up to host several events of the Paris Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2024.

LCL is faithful to its commitment to cycling and has been present in the Tour de France since 1981.

Paris-Roubaix is a special race for us. It’s one we turn to each year with passion and anticipation. And with every edition, it becomes a proving ground for one of our flagship products, the Roubaix, and every race reenergizes our commitment to providing the best bikes and equipment for riders around the world. The Specialized Roubaix took its first Hell of the North victory with Quick-Step’s Tom “Tommeke” Boonen in 2008, and it’s continued to claim six Paris-Roubaix wins in total with Tom Boonen (3X), Fabian Cancellara, Niki Terpstra, and Peter Sagan. This year, the Specialized Roubaix will once again take its place on the hallowed cobbles of Northern France, but it’s not just a bike for the pros. The bike has always been for anyone that wants to go faster on the road, no matter if they’re the bone-shaking cobbles of Northern France or the backroads of your hometown. Find your Roubaix at your local Specialized Retailer, or learn more about all the bikes in the Roubaix family at

Shimano’s origins began in 1921 when Shimano Iron Works, the predecessor of Shimano Inc., was established by Shozaburo Shimano in Sakai city, Osaka, Japan. The first product was the bicycle freewheel, which, at that time, required the highest level of bicycle technology to produce.

By the 1950s the company was producing products such as external speed changers and internal speed changers (3-speed hub). The success of these products led to Shimano’s first overseas sales office, Shimano American Corporation (currently Shimano North America Holding, Inc.) in 1965, followed by Shimano Europe in 1973. The first overseas manufacturing base, Shimano Singapore Pte. Ltd., also opened in the same year.

In 1991, the company name became Shimano Inc. Its headquarters remain in Sakai, the city of Shimano’s birthplace. Shimano is dedicated to helping its customers get closer to nature, supporting people to realize their dreams and create new lifestyles. That comes with the desire to create outstanding cycling products and apparel.

Shimano Inc. has a wide range of functions, including planning, development, design, manufacturing, and various other support functions for supplying bicycle components as well as fishing tackle and rowing equipment.

Shimano Europe acts as the 'eyes, ears and mouth' of the global Team Shimano in Europe. Its mission is to be an excellent supplier and a valuable partner for all customers in its European markets and to create consumer demand for Shimano and Shimano-owned products.

With 100 years’ experience in creating internationally renowned bicycle components, Shimano is proud to have developed products that continue to take countless athletes to victory and provide the means for limitless global bicycle journeys.
